CARPENTER ANTS
This type of ant is characterized by its location in trees, timbers, and at times indoors near a moisture source. It is most commonly black, but can also be red or yellow in color. In order to eliminate carpenter ants, the group's parent colony must be eliminated. Satellite colonies are prominent among this genre, and can invade further without proper treatment.
ODOROUS HOUSE ANTS
This ant is small with a dark brown or black colored body. They are most prominent during rainy weather, and can be characterized by their trails of foraging worker ants. Nests of this genre can commonly be found within walls or beneath the floor of a home or building.
MOUND ANTS
With a red upper abdomen and a dark brown lower abdomen, mound ants are known for their creation of galleries and tunnels in the ground. The most well-known sign of their presence is their visible mounds in fields, wooded areas, and pastures. They can also inhabit playgrounds and residential lawns.
